Social media marketing typically includes a plan of how to be seen by your pre-defined target audience. Then we'd develop a media plan around that. This might include for instance finding out who the most influential bloggers were in your space so that we could send the dude a free sample of your product/service or ask whether they'd like to help your campaign. It might also include developing creative ideas around your product or service that are so cool they spread like wildfire. Of course it would definitely include analysis and measurement to show what worked and what didn't.
